Submission for gamejam Cover Up 4 by VisualImpact - Based on the cover for Cauldron 2  - The Pumkin Strikes Back.

Story:

Take on the role as the Witch as she tries to undo her own failed experiment. One that puts not only humanity at risk, but her own life and reputation as well!

Controls:

WASD - move around
LMB - standard attack
RMB - alt. attack (when available and only for scythe)
Shift - crouch (we know, we know - we messed that one up)
Space bar - jump
E - interact (did you know that the alt. attack of the scythe can decapitate skeletones, and you can kick their skulls for an explosive bonus attack? Well, now you do!)

Hints:

"Seek the keys to switches three.
When pulled they be, only then
access granted thee."

"Seek the tools thy shall need to proceed.
Without them thou'll never succeed..."

"Brick by brick, the tower is tall.
Climb it and then fall if thou still
wishes to end it once and for all."

"When the caouldron placed be
don't stand there and yawn.
The undead now seek a brawl!
Only their souls will bring
forth a new dawn..."

Good luck - witch!

A nice level. It fits the cover well. I'm guessing it's running on the Doom engine?

The intro and ending text are too fast. Hitting things with the scythe, especially the pumpkin heads, seems janky. I like how the skellies dance.

You can get out of bounds pretty easily by jumping up the water at the start. There are clock and vampire icons under the starting location 🤔

Also, the ending played twice and started the game again, twice.

Thank you for playing and your feedback! We appreciate it!

The game is running on Easy FPS Editor CE, which is a nice but quite limited little engine/editor to make retro fps games.

We'll get those issues fixed asap.

The janky hit detection is probably due to the pumpkin entity being quite small and fast. Could probably be just a matter of adding some transparent padding to the sprites.

The clock and the vampire icons are actually handlers for some of the game mechanics. They are not supposed to be seen but have their own icons for development purposes. We could probably hide them by boxing them in.

We'll look in to the pacing of the cutscenes. It would probably be better to get back to the main menu after the ending. We'll try to convince the engine to handle that 😆

Why do you need a restart to toggle fullscreen lol

Thank you for playing!

Unfortunately that is due to the limitations of the engine we are using. Easy FPS Editor CE is great for rapid development and prototyping, but very limited as far as scripting and configurations go.
